Legal
Acceptable Use Policy
Version 2026-10-14-draft · Effective [EFFECTIVE DATE]
Draft for legal review. This document hasn't been approved by counsel yet, and the bracketed details are still to be filled in. It describes how THE GRID works today.
THE GRID is a professional network. This policy, part of our Terms of Service, sets out what isn't allowed. It applies to everything you post or do here: profiles, images, Field Notes, listings, inquiries, events, connections and reports.
1. No sales of cannabis or other controlled substances
- Don't offer, sell, buy, trade, ship or arrange delivery of cannabis, cannabis products or any controlled substance through THE GRID.
- Don't post prices for cannabis products, menus for ordering, or instructions for obtaining them.
- Businesses may describe what they do, their services and their genetics, within the laws that apply to them.
2. Contact details
- Field Notes may not contain email addresses, phone numbers, social handles, links or "message me" instructions. A business's contact channels belong on its headquarters profile.
- Exchange listings may include contact details for the listing (an email, a phone number, a website). Use them only for that listing.
- Don't use inquiries or messages for spam, bulk solicitation or anything unrelated to the listing.
3. Be who you say you are
- Don't impersonate a person or business, or claim a business you aren't authorized to represent.
- Don't misrepresent licenses, verification, awards, partnerships or genetics: no false breeder credit and no invented lineage.
- Don't create accounts to manipulate follows, views, rankings or The Pulse.
4. Respect people and rights
- No harassment, threats, hate, or sharing someone's private information.
- No sexual content, and nothing involving anyone under 21.
- Post only content you own or have permission to use. Credit sources the way their terms require.
- No marketing aimed at minors, and no unsupported medical or health claims.
5. Don't abuse the service
- No scraping, crawling or bulk downloading beyond what search engines do under our robots rules, and no automated account creation.
- Don't probe, attack or overload THE GRID, get around its security, rate limits or access rules, or access accounts that aren't yours.
- No malware, phishing or deceptive links.
6. Advertising
Paid placement is always labelled. Don't disguise advertising as editorial content, Field Notes or genetics records.
7. Reporting and enforcement
Use the report option on any profile, Field Note or listing, or email [PRIVACY / LEGAL CONTACT EMAIL]. We review reports and may remove content, limit features, or suspend or close accounts. Serious cases may be referred to the authorities. See the Terms of Service.
